In line with our collaborative approach, Bio21:MMIM held a half-day workshop on July 22nd at Melbourne University. The workshop was attended by representatives from many hospitals and research institutions, including Royal Melbourne, Royal Children's, Alfred, Austin and Box Hill Hospitals, the Monash Medical Centre, Monash University, Melbourne University, the Victorian Institute of Advanced Computing, the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Cancer Council of Victoria, Neurosciences Victoria, the Ludwig Institute, Unity Health and IBM.
The morning started off with presentations about developments in the MMIM project, and the ways MMIM is used for research in Cancer, Epilepsy and Diabetes. This was followed by focus group discussions, the groups being Cancer, Neurosciences, Diabetes and Respiratory. Each group was lead by clinicians who are key researchers in the MMIM. The workshop was productive and informative, and a good time was had by all.
